Ok so having a wee (sorry i'm scottish) read through the Standard this morning, and i noticed a article about C2C rail service who have decided to provide pregnant travellers with a "baby on board" badge, so that fellow travellers are aware they are pregnant and would appreciate a seat.
Now i am sure that you are thinking i am going to go into some massive rant about how pregnant mothers should just get there early to get the better seats, and it was their choice to get pregnant, and not our problem their pregnant and want to travel on the same train as us, well you would be wrong.
I say congradulations to c2c for doing this and shame to everyone else who didnt give up their seats, which has in turn forced c2c to do this, we seem to be living in a society of ignorant so and so's.
Think about it do you see people giving up their seat on the bus, or helping some old dear to cross the road (except when you want to nick their purse), when was the last time you were standing in tesco and someone in front you, normally a oap is taking forever with their money off tokens, or cant find the exact change from their jar of 2p's.
I dont know about you but i do get annoyed, and start huffing not that they will be able hear me as they wont have their hearing aid in anyway, why have i/we become a nation of intollerent people.
Is it because of the rush around society we live in, that we dont have time for oap's or pregnant or just anyone slower or less able than us, or is it because we have allowed ourselves to be changed by society and become intollerent.
This was not the way I have been brought up, i was always brought up to respect my elders and stand for old or pregnant woman on the bus.
Is not about time we take out our figurative compacts and have a hard look at ourselves, then fast forward a few years, less for some of us, and ask ourselves would we want to be treated this way.
So with this in mind, how do we change a national/world problem, well we can only start with looking long and hard at ourselves, if we can look at our image and see change, then perhaps just perhaps other people will reflect that change as well.
Peace to all
